The ROO sales started picking up in 1997 not the 2000’s. With Arnold they started working with him in 1999 not the 2000’s for the movie the EOD’s that started with him. As well you did not mention the creator of the ROO was Emmanuel Gueit.

Update 11/27/23. I happen to have purchased this exact Benrus (0002) off of eBay and imagine my surprise when I happened to have come across this video tonight - the same night I received it. Yes, it's the same one...right down to the two tiny marks on the side of case near the crown (I checked super closely.) Unbelievable. I've watched thousands of watch videos on RUclips and have purchased hundreds over the years...and this is the first time this has ever happened to me. lol. I can tell you the watch looks exactly the same today...immaculate. Great review, btw. This one will be staying with me for a while. ;) Cheers!

That polar explorer II looks amazing on the tropic strap. I have a SLA055 coming in and am wondering if the tropic will be better than the chocolate bar one that comes with the SLA055. Will find out soon.

Great review. Few others mention the movement and the quirks of them. I recently began getting into watches and discovered Benrus and its military history. These reissues are a great option because looks like the new owners were not cutting corners like other brands for example my beloved Bulova and their Miyota 8000 series in their military reissues, and worst, the quartz movement in the Lunar Pilot. Too bad about the friction bezel, would have been a great update to get a unidirectional 120 or 60 click bezel.

I had my great grandfathers pocket watch. My family member Chris Snook told me about this company. I sent in the watch. It took 3-4 months to complete. My dad has never seen this watch work in his life. I spoke to RT several times regarding the watch finishing up. This watch is so dear to me. When I was 5 years old my grandmother said it would be mine some day… It is more valuable than my Rolex. Thanks RT and the Vortic company. Love it.

Other than non hacking feature (which should be included), I don't mind the band, the width or height of the watch. These are matters of personal preference. The watch's design, movement and finish are acceptable for its price point. However, if you want a high end movement and finishes, you pay for them. I have never understood when reviewers apply higher end standards on "non luxury" price point pieces. You said it correctly "mass produced". What did you expect?

No screw down crown? Dang! This ain't no diver!

Pretty late I know, but you did the Meraud and WatchGecko straps dirty. You held the Meraud by the short (Buckle) strap and the Tropic by the long side and that made the Tropic look far more flexible. Must have been a little distracted while filming lol. Those Tropics are comparatively expensive although I have two from Wolbrook which at 56 Euro are about 20 USD cheaper. As an aside I have found the Borealis "Iso style" strap superior to the Synchron Isofrane in terms of flexibility comfort and looks. While the Isofrane has a stiff feel and a shiny surface the Borealis is super soft, flexible and has a beautifully consistent matt finish. The keepers on the Isofrane might be a touch better as they are so tight to start with that they need a break-in period but thereafter remain very reliable.

How tough is this watch? Could I wear it confidently whilst gardening without it getting beat up and scratched?

Just grabbed one at Costco for $250. I love it and the quarks just give it personality to me. I don't want a "perfect" watch.

WAAAAY too much $$$ for a ghost date watch. I can get a quality ghost date homage for less than 1/2 this price.

The review is great, that was exactly the watch I bought on Kickstarter. Such a pity I will never see this timepiece on my wrist…and also such a pity I will never get my money back. But I have learned my lesson…

What brand is that green zulu strap?

The lack of the hacking and the 19mm of strap really put me on hold in getting this. No doubt the design, aesthetic, the orange color is nice. I think the brand Bulova here also contributes towards the price point which isn't consider cheap, more of mid range bt I could get cheaper dive watches with better movement that the Miyota movement use here as well as the specs.

I missed the whole review because I kept staring at that creepy nationalist t-shirt.

This thing absolutely sucks for the price lmao, Jesus what a waste of resources. At least make something that won't bore the wearer to tears after two weeks, I would honestly rather wear a Fossil Coachman Chrono; at least that way I'm financially stable while having a bad time.
